I took the original photograph that went into this piece because I liked the balance between what seems like nature (the flowers), and what seems like man's interference (a sidewalk). As I think deeper, though, I realize that the flowers were intentionally placed there (and subsequently removed), while the sidewalk is almost an homage to the bedrock 20 feet or so beneath it. In a way, the blurring in the center is merely my revelation of what is so obviously already there. We can only pretend we're really interfering in nature, because we're so intrinsically a part of it.
