2004. Acrylic on canvas. 16" x 20" Sold! But you can always commission a similar piece.
This is one of my maze series, in which I explore the possibility that, in other universes, a very similar overall make-up can result in something radically different. I got this from one of my favorie movies, in which one man plays two characters who end up fighting over the combined energies of every version of that one particular man. From this, I made a group of 15 (so far) mazes in acrylic paint, each on a 16" x 20" canvas. I reused this maze about three times... one of my terrible, early paintings is buried within. I took the loose, heavily-abstracted background, and was putting on a black base coat, when I suddenly stopped myself. The colors, wild and passionate, were just slightly leaking through this protective black wall... and I was diggin' it. For awhile, this piece sat around, with me wondering how to finish it. Then I started doing the mazes, and this became a prime example of "if, at first, you don't succeed..."
