Ahoy!
Yeah, I have a guestbook. -Chris Hodge
WoW!!!!! -Kristen Leigh Plouse
I must say, Kristen, your eloquence truly confirms my faith in our educational system... oh, yeah, I know; only four keys on your keyboard work, and you put 'em to good use.
Chris,
I really like the description of the painting and I sent it to all of
our family! Thanks. -Dr. Laura Ruhala
You only liked the Description of the painting? Oh, crap. Trust me, I've gotten better since then.
Greetings. Hello Chris. My compliments on a
fine site. I Enjoyed your Energetic Artistic
Expression and I celebrate your Harvest. Your
Gifts are many and your work Transcends the
norm. Thank you for Sharing the Truth of who
you are.
You have the ability to find the Transcendent in
everyday Life. You are Blessed to be traveling
the Creative Path of Life. I wish you a Path of
Self Guidance and Independence.
Thank you for Giving who you are into the
World. May you Live Life with a lifted Spirit and
may your Contribution to the World Serve the
Betterment of the Universe. -Michael
The transcendent in everyday life? Naw man, I just make things. Although I have been called a pragmatic dadaist. Which means I'm tempted to stand on the side of the road selling a bag of air for $10mil, claiming it contains the answer to a question nobody asked.
hey chris, good to see you have a wicked site up, and that you're
showing off your crazy art. keep creating and great luck! if you ever want
to check out my site, it's just kevinfitz.com -Kevin Fitz
First I'm serving the betterment of Universe, now I'm wicked. How 'bout dem apples?
Hi, this is Rachel G. I seriously doubt you remember who I am, but I
came accross your website. WOW! You really are doing well with your life.
I would like to tell you, you are an inspiration. You know your dream
and you are going for it. Your art is wonderful and I am sure you will
be a famous artist. I wish the best for you and hope you follow your
dreams. -Rachel Ann Graham
Hmm... you mean my dream where I'm walking around my old high school without pants on? Or the one where I'm so rich I can order a pizza without feeling guilty for squandering five days worth of pay? I hope that's a real inspiration to you...
Hey Chris! I found your card tonight at
Murphy's, and it occurred to me I went to
high school with you! I'd love to buy
some of your stuff! -Angie
Hey Angie! Buy as much as you like! I've spent four years trying to block out high school, but I kinda wish I remembered you!
Chris,
I haphazardly stummbled across your webpage and after a few minutes of
scanning, it dawned on me, HeY I know that guy! I specifically remember
your hilariously quirky 'performance art' pieces that took place in the
halls of Roncalli High School. I don't know if you remember me, but my
name is Claire and I was a year ahead of you. I think we may have even
had a short-lived ceramics class together at Herron. It's good to see
you really doing something with your art. I especially like your
artist's statements, profound and comical at the same time. It's nice to see
that you don't take yourself too seriously. I'm pretty submersed in art
right now, too. I just graduated from Herron and I am now a High School
art teacher at Perry Meridian. It's challenging, but I enjoy it. Well,
I think I will take the next few minutes to entertain myself with the
rest of your work. I always had a hunch that you knew something the rest
of us didn't. Good luck with your artistic endeavors and perhaps we
will meet again in the future.
Claire
Hey, Claire. I actually do remember you; it's a good thing nobody notices that I haven't updated my News section in like five months. You've inspired me to write down what I'm actually doing... I just scratched my shoulder, and I'm thinking of having a bowl of oatmeal.
I stumbled upon your site, and no, I didn't go to high school with you.
I am impressed by the sheer number of images and the extent of your
ramblings that you have posted, all of which I haven't yet viewed/read,
but I am ammused by all I've seen. My one criticism is that your website
hurts my eyes, especially when I'm trying to read something. The
"scribbles" glossary page as well as the blue/white color scheme combined
with Times New Roman font of each subsequent page discourages me from
reading on when I am actually enjoying the content. Makes me want to turn
down the contrast on my screen. I'm not asking you to change, just
giving my honest reaction. My own website (sharipettis.com) pales in
comparison to yours in the abundance of content as well as humor, but it is
easier on the eyes, physically. Am I wrong? I'd love to see your
responding opinion to this in my guestbook on my site...
Hey, Shari.
I've done all I know how to do when it comes to having a site that draws attention to itself (hopefully positive, but probably not). I've made my fonts large enough that the elderly can easily read it without their bi/triphocals, and I've coded the images with descriptions so that the blind can enjoy my site (well, sort of -- art for the blind on a computer is probably still a few years off). When I was designing my site, I decided to steer as far away from normalcy as humanly possible. I don't like white, black and gray in application, which I could abbreviate as WBG. WBG is typically used by the pretentious to say, "Look how cool I am. I'm using a limited palette that doesn't actually contain any color." I forget whom it was who eliminated WBG from his work, but I do remember he did so because black and white aren't so much colors
as they are forces
. While I realize that we make art in order to fill the white spaces in our lives, and to communicate some sort of connection between the black and white extremes, I don't really like to limit that just to what's on the proverbial canvas. I've been told that nearly everything that comes out of my mouth is off-color, anyway. Re-read that sentence looking for Ren & Stimpy-ish double-entendres. And you've inspired me to put up another pic that I've been putting off since April (2006). So off I go.
