This is half the set of cross bowl bearers I made, in storage. I was at a Habitat for Humanity meeting, when I was approached by a person from my university's Religious Life group, who asked if I could build something to hold some baptismal water bowls for their Catholic masses. The stipulations were: portable, durable and aesthetically pleasing. These are no problem for a small woman to carry across campus on a weekly basis, they've taken more abuse than I'd care to remember putting them through, and as for stip three, you be the judge. Beauty's in the eye of the beholder. This project was a real break-out for me for two reasons: 1. I was finally noticed as having a developed eye for beauty, and 2. all the splinters I got (the longest was almost four inches) toughened me up a bit. This is one of those projects that's better now that it's over.
