Archie is my first table... and so far, my most bizarre. My concept was that most tables just have stuff sitting atop them like hood ornaments. Archie protects what he holds; it's nearly impossible to knock something off this table. The chains (though they're longer than I wanted, in retrospect) were just the most convenient method of support. Archie is sturdy enough for a small person to sit on, and can take some punishment, in the presence of a clumsy woodworker like myself. Some folks have actually debated with me, that Archie is made of plywood. He might not look like it, at first glance -- I am just that good. Even looking back from 2004, my skills have grown so far that my neck hurts looking back at Archie, and all the mistakes I made back then. Oh, well. This is part advertisement, and part record-keeping.
