2004. Spray paint and acrylic on found pine and bought pine. 6'5" x 4' x 5' in two separate sections. Not for sale (destroyed). But you can always commission a similar piece.
My mission: to construct a piece of artwork taller than I am (6'2") from scraps of pine left over from a colleague's project. The working title was "The Value of Sculpture," partly because I did some soul-searching about my own feelings on the purpose of art in the modern world, and partly because I confined my colors to white, blue (in place of my despised gray) and black, symbolizing light, dark, and medium values.
Update:This piece was broken beyond my ability to repair it during a show in 2007. It was a serious pain in the ass... to move, not just to sit on, but the point is, I'm going to miss it. The good news is, I set it out for the trash, and a couple days before the pick-up day, it disappeared. Hopefully, it's in that big, glorious gallery in the sky. (pause for an emo moment)
