The Ash Tray With Curves

The Ash Tray With Curves

2003. Stoneware clay. 12" x 9 1/2" x 7" $99.99 plus $21.99 for shipping. Click here if you want this piece.

This project began as a liquid-holding vessel, but became too unstable. So I pushed it over, and went to work on adapting it to a new career... that of an ash tray. I smoke-fired most of my ash trays for the obvious joke, which results in the lovely gray tone. The shape itself is a semi-functional holder for used cigarettes. Some would fit better than others, and I'm no expert. For those who find ash trays disgusting, I think this piece holds its own as a sculpture. So don't tell anyone.

Some of my favorite pieces

One Dusk

One Dusk

The question isn't whether it's beautiful... the question is, is it really a depiction of dusk?

Whatever you do, do NOT let the pieces fall into the hands of a small child.

A Battle Under the Surface

A Battle Under the Surface.

It's just so... Line-y. Not to be confused with 'Limey.' Although I hear the British are pretty nautical...
