2005. Acrylic on canvas. 14" x 11" Not for sale. But you can always commission a similar piece.
When I was in college, I did what I had secretly wanted to do since childhood; I got laid. But that's not what this piece is about. Actually, I also did something else I had always wanted to do in college... I took a martial art. I was in Kung Fu under a man named Ron Weatherford (name-dropping is a martial arts custom) for about two years. I also took Tai Chi with fair regularity (even though it often felt boring, the exercises are ideal for days when one is sore from harder exercises). Finally, getting to the artwork, this piece chronicles my development as a martial artist. It started as white... pretty boring, yeah. Then. yellow brought it to life... and blue, gotta love those blue shadows... with gray acting as the highlights. I wish I had gotten into it a little earlier in my college career (I missed a year of free lessons; dumbass, table one), because I bet green and brown would've made it even better. I've since donated this piece to the Dan Shi school, where they teach Tae Kwon Do (Punching, Kicking, Thought, as it was translated to me) to poor children and their families. I could think of no better piece for the job. I hope it's found a good home somewhere.
