I love making paper. It's so Zenlike. Unfortunately, it often goes kind of sissy. That's why I put thick wood shavings and band saw blades into my paper. This stuff is 1/4" thick, and the manliest shade of pink you can imagine. Part of my personal joy with papermaking is the craftsmanship involved. It takes hours of working, placing layer after layer, before it feels "done." Of course, it's never really done... until somebody buys it, then it's pretty much done. In the end, the paper usually works too well to even print on (what I always tell myself I'll be using it for).
