2004. Scrap woods, acrylic paint and scrap paper on scrap particle board with a scrap cherry frame. 33 1/2" x 15 3/4" $249.99 plus $28.99 for shipping. Click here if you want this piece.
This piece right here had a lot of process to it. First, I glued on the paper and wood. Then, I put on the polyurethane, but only a thin layer. After that, I dropped paint on it. Then, I drilled holes in the piece, to balance what rises from the surface with what sinks. Finally, I took the grinder to it, and made 'lines' across the surface. This picture doesn't do the piece justice. Techniques aside, I have to say something else about this piece. I felt guilty for awhile, using acrylic I actually paid for on a 'scrap' piece. I just have to keep telling myself that I bought the acrylic paint for another purpose... and that all acrylic paint is derived from a waste product of petroleum.
