We Make Frames from the Woods

2004. Digital Photograph. **Part of an Award-Winning Series** 8" x 10" $39.99 plus $3.99 shipping Click here if you want this piece.

This piece right here is part of my 'Nature, Through My Lens' series. Back then, I figured "Nature" was enough definition for an art show. This is, however, one of the stars of said series, as it was partially responsible for my winning an award of excellence from National Photo Awards back in late 2004. Now onto why I took this picture; I'm fascinated by the linear qualities inherent in pine trees, how it looks like a bunch of electrical diodes which, while they don't look like they're going anywhere, it's hard not to imagine there's some sort of plan to their prickly, fingerlike projections. Also, in mid-Winter all those Johnny-come-lately trees start imitating the skeletonlike forms these evergreens show all year. This is genuine evergreen... ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!!! As for the frame, it was just a little digital trick that seemed ironically funny... and keeps the composition moving pretty well, too.

Some of my favorite pieces

I'm not a parent. I admit I have favorites...

One Dusk

One Dusk

The question isn't whether it's beautiful... the question is, is it really a depiction of dusk?

Whatever you do, do NOT let the pieces fall into the hands of a small child.

A Battle Under the Surface

A Battle Under the Surface.

It's just so... Line-y. Not to be confused with 'Limey.' Although I hear the British are pretty nautical...
